June is already halfway through, and the hottest time of the year is coming. The temperature in many places is as high as 38℃, and even 40℃ at noon.
But even so, you must not be greedy for coolness and wear open-crotch pants for your baby. The baby's private parts are exposed to the outside, which is not conducive to cultivating privacy awareness and may also cause many potential risks, such as mosquito bites or collisions.
Therefore, how to use light and comfortable diapers for babies has become the most annoying summer problem for mothers.
In fact, before using a diaper for your baby, mothers can first take a trial version to do these 5 small tests to determine whether it is suitable for summer use. The test props are very simple, just a cup of hot water.
1. Touch it with your hand to feel the thickness
The most important thing about choosing diapers in summer is that they cannot be stuffy or hot, so diapers must be light and thin.
Thin diapers can not only reduce the risk of prickly heat, but also facilitate baby activities, just like wearing a close-fitting small underwear, you can move whenever you want.
The easiest way to judge the thickness of a diaper is to compare it with the thickness of a 1-yuan coin. A thinner diaper is generally as thick as a 1-yuan coin after pinching a single layer.
2. Use your hands to prop it up and feel the tightness
The four words "appropriate tightness" sound simple, but in fact, they are full of sadness: too tight will strangle the baby, and too loose will tire the mother.
Moms should have experienced this desperate scene: poop leaks out of the diaper silently, and coupled with the baby's non-stop spinning and jumping movements, it is all over the bed. For a moment, I don't know whether to wash the baby first or change the sheets first...
Moms who don't want to go through it again can use their fingers to help themselves make a judgment. After putting on the diaper for the baby, if two fingers can be inserted into the abdomen, it proves that the tightness is just right.
Of course, after taking off the diaper, you should also pay attention to the baby's thighs, groin and waistline to ensure that there are no strangulation marks.
3. Pour a cup of hot water and observe the water vapor - judge the breathability of the diaper
In addition to being thin and fit, an excellent diaper suitable for summer must also be breathable. Otherwise, the baby's skin may be stuffy and red, and the waist and groin may be stuffy and prickly heat.
If you want to test the breathability of the diaper, you can pour a cup of hot water, cover the diaper on the top of the cup, and observe the amount and speed of water vapor passing through the diaper.
The more breathable the diaper, the more steam it can pass through, the faster it will pass through, and the more friendly it will be to the baby's skin.
If you find it difficult to identify steam, you can cover the diaper with a transparent cup, which will be more intuitive.
4. Quickly pour half a cup of water - check the instantaneous absorption ability of the diaper
As the baby grows older, the amount of urine per time will also increase, and the diaper needs to absorb hundreds of milliliters of urine in a few seconds. Therefore, if the absorption speed is not fast enough, it is easy to leak urine, and it will also affect the baby's comfort.
Testing the instantaneous suction of diapers is very simple: prepare a cup of water of about 200 mL, preferably drop some pigment into the water, then unfold the diaper and quickly pour the water into the diaper.
This method can well simulate the impact of urination. If a diaper can withstand this small test, it means that the instantaneous suction is very good.
5. Pour a whole cup of water-test the anti-reverse osmosis and absorption of diapers
Another problem with large urine volume is that it is easy to have reverse osmosis. Just like a towel full of water, if you twist it gently, water will overflow again.
Reverse osmosis will cause the baby's buttocks to be not dry enough. The long-term humid environment will make the stratum corneum in an over-hydrated state, which may cause diaper rash.
If you want to test the reverse osmosis, you can pour out the remaining water in the cup based on the previous steps, and then gently press the inside of the diaper with a paper towel or cotton towel. If the paper towel is still dry, it proves that you have picked an excellent diaper.
Of course, we also need to test the water absorption limit of diapers, which is extremely important for babies who use diapers at night.
You can continue to pour water into the diaper with the props used above, adding 50 mL each time. The total amount of water when the diaper leaks water is basically its maximum water absorption.
For babies under 3 years old, the urine volume for the whole day is generally within 600 mL. The baby's urination will decrease at night, usually not more than half of the daytime. Therefore, if a diaper can absorb more than 300 mL of water, it is basically enough for the baby to use for one night.
Although these 5 small tests are not strict experiments, they are much more reliable than purely subjective judgments, and they are very convenient and can be completed at home.
If a diaper can pass these 5 small tests at the same time, it basically means that its comprehensive performance is very good, which can make the baby's summer more comfortable and make the mother less worried.
